Dis Jonsdottir is Finn Jonsunnr's younger half-sister: they have different mothers and grew up separated from each other. When Jon was travelling the trading routes one year, he had to winter away from home for many months in Jutland (Gotland) due to unfavourable weather and as such Dis came to be. In the spring he returned home, leaving Dis and her mother behind. Not until the death of Dis' mother did she join the rest of her family on Osea Island where she has remained ever since.
